SAP NEWSBYTE - SAP SE (NYSE: SAP) today announced that ARC Advisory Group has again named the company as the market leader in transportation management systems (TMS) and a market leader in warehouse management systems (WMS).

“Innovating alongside customers has helped us to maintain consistent leadership in the TMS and WMS markets,” said Hans Thalbauer, senior vice president, Line-of-Business Solutions for Supply Chain, SAP. “Our customers are now finding even greater efficiencies through analysis on the SAP HANA platform.”

In ARC’s latest “Transportation Management Systems Market Study,” SAP was ranked as the No. 1 supplier overall based on revenues for the third year running, as well as No. 1 in selected categories, including:

  • Market share by software revenue
  • Fleet Management sector
  • EMEA geographic region
  • Asia geographic region
  • Non-asset Based Logistics sector

According to the report, “SAP is the leading supplier of TMS [based on revenues]. Their growth over the last year has been astonishing.” ARC further notes that “TMS is now one of the fastest growing businesses in SAP.”

In ARC’s latest “Warehouse Management Systems Market Study” for base year 2013, SAP was ranked No. 1 in the following WMS market segments based on revenues:

  • Market share by software revenue
  • Latin America geographical region
  • Automotive industry segment

According to the report, the SAP Extended Warehouse Management (SAP EWM) application has “gained strong traction in the marketplace due to its robust functionality, [and] interoperability with the SAP suite of solutions.”

SAP has a compelling platform
strategy for addressing SCE convergence” and has “noteworthy market momentum”

Sample strengths and quotes

  • SAP EWM was designed to provide functionality for complex warehouses, and SAP continues to broaden its capabilities, such as yard management, slotting and rearrangement. It offers a native WCS called Material Flow System (MFS) that allows SCM EWM to directly connect to programmable logic controllers.

  • SAP has a compelling platform strategy for addressing SCE convergence. This product offers strong integration with SAP Business Suite and other components, such as transportation management; trade compliance; and environmental, health and safety.

  • SAP has noteworthy market momentum, with growth in new sales and implementations (more than 600 total customers and 350 live customers), and
notable numbers of new customers added year over year. This momentum has largely come during the past four years as SAP focused more attention on SCM EWM.

  • SAP has very diversified vertical industry coverage, with particular strengths in consumer goods, wholesale distribution, retail and 3PL, which represents about 60% of its customer base.

  • Gartner's Viewpoint of the WMS Market Has Changed in the Past Year:One of the most important trends in logistics management
is a concept that Gartner calls supply chain execution (SCE) convergence, which refers to the need for supply chain organizations to better orchestrate and synchronize execution processes across functional execution domains. Because SCE convergence plays such a prominent role in enhancing logistics performance, [Gartner]have made it a central factor in this year's WMS market evaluation. Given this change and the effect it is having on the SCE application landscape, it has affected the positioning of some WMS vendors.

Locations with the same identification(Master Data EWM)

$

0

Hello all,

If you are working with locations with same id(like customer 1001, plant 1001, vendor 1001, etc..) and when you CIF these from ERP to EWM, you get an error like;

Location XXXX of type 1003 (BSG XXXX) already exists in APO

Message no. /SAPAPO/LOM060

This means your CIF integration model failed to create locations.

Solution;

Follow this navigation: SCM Basis>>Integration>>BAdIs for Specific Applications>>Location and Business Partner>>BAdI: Inbound Processing for Location.

Choose one of these BAdIs for your case:

APOCF001_SYSDIFIdentical location numbers from different systems
APOCF001_TYPEDIFLocations of different type with similar names
APOCF001_TYPESYSDIFIdentical location nos of different types from diff. systems

After succcessful implementation, your locations are created with an addition to seperate their ids.

Example:

Untitled.png

You get 'PL' addition for all plants, 'SP' addition for all shipping points, 'CU' addition for all customers, etc.. You can check EXIT_/SAPAPO/SAPLCIF_LOC_001 for more information.

Note: There isn't any OSS Note for this(please share if you find, i could not find any).

Best regards

Serhan.

ARC Advisory Group, Transportation Management Systems Global Market Research Study 2015

Analyst firm ARC named SAP again the leading supplier of Transportation Management Systems (TMS)

Dear SCM community,

For the fourth year running, SAP was named leader again in ARC’s annual market research study Transportation Management Systems Global Market Research Study by Chris Cunnane, Steve Banker and Clint Reiser. ARC is one of the leading industry analyst firms covering the Supply Chain Execution space.

ARC published their annual Transportation Management Systems Market Study and SAP was ranked #1 in many categories. According to ARC “the TMS market […] with a CAGR of approximately 15 percent, is one of the fastest growing of all established enterprise application markets.

A very special thanks goes to Elinor Castell, Jocelyn Eisenberg, Guido Kaup, and Bill King who have worked with ARC on the report for this great result!

SAP was named #1 of Leading Suppliers of Transportation Management Systems in 15 categories overall:

  • #1 of Leading Suppliers of Transportation Management Systems
  • #1 for Software
  • #1 in EMEA
  • #1 in Asia
  • #1 for Service Revenues
  • #1 for Implementation Revenues
  • #1 for A&D
  • #1 for Chemical
  • #1 for Pharmaceutical & Biotech
  • #1 for Retail for Department and General Merchandise
  • #1 for Retail for Grocery/Food & Beverage
  • #1 for Other Industries
  • #1 for Tier 1
  • #1 for Tier 2
  • #1 for Fleet Management

Quotes seconding the position:

  • Patience has paid off for SAP. They are now a leader in this market.
  • In 2014, many of the top suppliers in the market had year-over-year growth in the 10 percent range. However, two of the largest suppliers, SAP and JDA, grew faster.
  • SAP has had marked success selling TMS solutions, along with a broader set of enterprise applications, to logistics service providers. Consequently, that sector has grown markedly and we expect that to continue for the next few years.
  • With SAP also offering their solutions in the cloud, the overall growth for SaaS revenues is expected to remain in double digits for the foreseeable future.
  • SAP is a new challenge for Oracle.

You receive finished or semi-finished goods pallet-wise and put them away as they arrive on a conveyor line from production into the warehouse

SAP Fiori is everywhere these days. If you don't know what it is, I'd recommend to go through a few blog posts available here on SCN (non exhaustive list):

What is SAP Fiori

Fiori arrives - first impressions and thoughts

What is SAP Fiori? Maybe it's more than you think

SAP Fiori Wave 2 is here - so what's new ?

To sum it up very quickly Fiori allows end users to access some "transactions" from their mobile phone, tablet or desktop with the same user experience. All you need is a browser recent enough to display HTML5. As a SAP CRM consultant I wanted to give it a try and see what we can get with those ~10 apps dedicated to sales representatives... And the good news is: a few weeks ago I noticed this big orange button on http://marketplace.saphana.com/Line-of-Business/Sales/SAP-Fiori/p/3570 to try Fiori for free!
